When some dickhead waves a dixie flag
advertising ignorance
throws a sieg heil up in anger toward me
oh what a horrible sight, so full of hatred

so I’m looking for America but I can’t find her
somehow they’re pulling for the losing team of 1865
they shout “lady liberty, you gotta shut the ports down
and built that wall” (around a fascist White House)
the melting pot, oh, she’s caught fire

so now the shadows of three flicker from behind the flames
the president, a cop, and a bank executive
while one divides your country, the next supplies the chokehold
the other holds a cigar wrapped in bailout benjamins

so I’m looking for America and I think I’ve found hope
I see her in the faces of a peaceful protest
they say “injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere,
all lives can’t matter until Black Lives Matter”
keep the voices loud through November
